Overview
The Kyajo Ri Peak Climbing expedition is a 24-day journey designed for mountaineers seeking a technical and less-crowded alternative to the standard trekking peaks. Standing at $6,186$ meters ($20,296$ feet), Kyajo Ri is a semi-technical summit located between the Thame and Gokyo valleys. The route involves mixed climbing on rock, snow, and ice, with the final summit push featuring 12 pitches of technical terrain, making it a “pure expedition” experience comparable in nature to Ama Dablam.
To ensure the highest success rate, the itinerary features a comprehensive acclimatization circuit through the Gokyo Lakes and over the Renjo La Pass ($5,340$m). This approach allows climbers to build strength and adapt to high altitudes before entering the secluded Kyajo Drangka valley for the actual climb. With a focused 1:3 guide-to-client ratio on summit day and a path that avoids common hazards like rockfall or avalanches, this expedition offers an adrenaline-rich adventure through some of the most stunning and least-explored corners of the Khumbu region.
